Mary Capener Blackham Sorensen, wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend passed away March 15, 2013 at 7:46 a.m. in Holladay, Utah. She was an angel on Earth and now she is an angel in Heaven.

Mary was born May 15, 1932 at her parent's home in Garland, Utah. She was the 4th child and 2nd daughter of Arthur Dean and Dorothy Norman Capener.

Mary attended Garland School, Bear River High School, and LDS Business College.

She married Daryl Kent Blackham on August 6, 1952. They were later sealed in the Oakland LDS Temple in 1979. They had three children, the first was stillborn and then a son, Richard and a daughter, Holly.

Mom had an adventurous life as an Army wife. Among the places she lived: Texas; Louisiana; Maryland; Turkey; Kansas; West Point, New York; Utah; Germany; and California. Retiring in the beautiful San Francisco Bay area, Mary and Daryl lived there for 19 years. She moved to Utah to be close to her daughter and grandchildren.

She married Larry Sorensen later in life. She loved traveling with friends and family and saw much of the world.

She served in her church presidencies and as a teacher in the church and a temple worker in the Oakland Temple. She was known for her unconditional loving and generous nature and her sense of humor.

Mary enjoyed spending time with her family, sewing, traveling, movies, needlework, ceramics, scrap-booking, reading, plays, the symphony and Broadway shows.

Mary is survived by her son Richard, daughter Holly (Duane) Gustafson; grandchildren Andy, Chelsey (Yosleyder) Cala, Matt and Sierra; sisters Pam Morrell and Carol Lynn Hunsaker; and her husband, Larry Sorensen.

She is preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, one sister, her husband, and her first baby.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 23, 2013 at 11:00a.m. at Holladay 10th Ward, 4601 South 2565 East, Holladay, Utah.

A viewing will be held at the church at 9:30a.m.

Interment will be in the Deweyville Cemetery.
